"The small staff at Big Basin Redwoods State Park and the staff of the Sempervirons Fund were outstanding in their preparations and assistance in making the whole day run smoothly.
"It was lovely to see so many Soroptimists from around the Sierra Pacific Region in attendance. I believe there were 100 reservations for lunch which was catered by the newly re-named SI Capitola-by-the-Sea club (formerly known as SI Mid-Santa Cruz County).
"Next year will be the 30th year of our region's involvement with Big Basin Redwoods State Park and the Sempervirons Fund. During that time, we (collectively) have purchased 10 groves of trees and are working on our 11th. Each grove has a sign identifying it as a Soroptimist Grove, with a plaque for each tree that was purchased, naming the person or people in whose honor the tree was dedicated. It is heartwarming to know that by honoring or memorializing our families and friends in this substantial and permanent way, we are contributing to the preservation of these magnificent redwood trees."
