| GERMAN UNION PROJECT IN MONGOLIA
|
Gwendolen Webster sent information about the German Union's Ulaan-Baatar Project
"In September 2005, with the aid of SI German Union, what had once been
a dilapidated and disintegrating ruin was opened as a shining new
hostel for the parents of seriously ill children in Mongolia."
These photos from Gwenda show the dilapidated building before renovation and several photos taken when the renovated hostel was opened

Shown below are photographs taken at the opening of the hostel
"The hostel stands in the grounds of the hospital in Ulaan-Baatar and can
accommodate 20 people; it will enable the parents of young patients to
stay in the capital so that they can care for their children
(particularly those receiving chemotherapy for leukemia) during
treatment.
"We would like to express our gratitude to those members of
Ulaan-Baatar who untiringly supervised the building work (one being Duba, the
mother of Bolor, who many of you may remember from a previous Chatline
project), and most especially to Dr Dorothea Leupold (SI Ulm) who
never fails to work miracles - she initiated this project, drove it
through in record time and was of course present at the opening."
