SI PORTLAND's 80 ^th ANNIVERSARY

Stella wrote:"The Soroptimist International of Portland, OR INC. celebrated on Feb 2, 2006 our 80th Anniversary........... We are one of the original clubs chartered by Stuart Morrow himself. Our real charter date is Feb 9, but celebrating a week early.

"The 80 Years & Still Going Strong was very nice. The event was held at The Benson Hotel where we held our 1st chartering 80 years ago. The 10-20 min presentation of photos from our Archives, dated from 1926 - 2006, was the biggest hit. President Wanda's husband plays in a swing band. She played his band's CD while the Power Point Presentation was shown.

Greetings were read by SI President Lynn Dunning, It was a very intimate event, warm and filled with laughter.

President Wanda was most proud of our International "Best Practice" Award for the Reaching Out One at a Time (ROOT). Root is a mentoring program begun 1992. Over 13 years we've helped 18 students at a cost of nearly $18,000.
