     A MEETING WITH A DIFFERENCE
"Only in the UK could teabags become so interesting!!" Phylis King

Jean Lord, SI Rishton & Great Harwood, Region N.W. & I of Man, UK, put the following on the Chatline:

"We were asked to arrange newspaper publicity for International Women's day. The idea was to use 40 FAIR - TRADE teabags.

"We have 36 members, 30 were at our last business meeting, tea bags were given out, (some received two.) We were then asked to go home and decorate or use the teabags to make something. Then bring them back to our meeting in two weeks time. We displayed the efforts and asked the guest speaker to judge them.

"The entries consisted of Cakes (Tea- Breads); a jug of Iced Lemon Tea & glasses; three cards; a pair of spectacles with pink fluffy rims and teabags for lenses. Some were made into earrings, some broaches. One was a paper plate with a funny face and legs made of pipe-cleaners with 'teabag' feet. Others were hidden inside flowers. I made a card: 'Tea for Two' Two for tea -- the song. ---glued the bags inside, decorated it with musical notes etc.

"President Joyce Hargreaves is showing the entries"

"The winner was a card with a Sad teabag face -- could not find water, inside a Happy teabag face -- it had found water. In second place was the 'pink glasses'. The winner received Two packets of FAIR TRADE BISCUITS the other one packet of biscuits. All were winners in fact. As we meet in the evenings and have tea and biscuits it fitted in well."
