JUNE 3RD 2006 |
"SI/Bosphorus celebrated its Golden Jubilee on June 3 2006 in Istanbul with the participation of sisters from Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, France, Kosova and Canada. We were honored to have SI/E President Elect Mariet Verhoef-Cohen with us.
" The keynote speakers were very impressive. Prof. Dr. Talat Halman, Dean of Humanities and Letters of the Bilkent University, and Executive Board member of UNESCO (1991-1995) addressed us with a wonderful lecture on the subject. Professor Halman was a very charming man who inspired us and kept his audience under a spell.
"An audio visual club history presentation of club founder past SI President Sadun Katipoglu, past European Presidents, club presidents, members and the club projects in the six program areas was much appreciated by the audience.
"The Gala Dinner took place alongside the Bosphorus with around 100 guests. Greetings from SI President, all Federation Presidents and from clubs all over the world and our chatline were read. Gifts were exchanged and everyone enjoyed the jubilant occasion with music, with exchange of gifts, lighting of the candles and the birthday cake at the end."

"50 Years ago a group of Turkish professional and business women had a dream of enhancing the status, role and education of Turkish women. Thus they founded SI Club Bosphorus in 1956.
"The Golden Jubilee theme was “Peace at home, peace in the world”.
