"We’re all looking very energetic at 9am on Saturday. 4 members from Woking (who organised it) and 4 from Guildford, along with one Woking grandson in the pushchair and one Guildford daughter (mine). We walked across the borough of Woking from Knaphill, through Horsell woods and by Horsell common – for those who know the book War of the Worlds by HG Wells – this is where the Martians landed – we didn’t see any signs of them now!

"The half way point was where we stopped for coffee in the town centre. The photo here is taken by the ornamental town gates:

"Three members of the Elmbridge Club joined us for the rest of the walk. As the numbers don’t add up, the extra people in the photo helped refresh our weary limbs with coffee and plenty of chocolate biscuits.

" The last part of the walk took us along the Basingstoke Canal, finishing in Roxanne’s garden with wine, water and cheese. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos of exhausted Soroptimists! Funds raised to be advised later."
