Surrounded by hitech machines with daughter Carla

In the ICU the patient is surrounded by a multitude of hi-tech machines, tubes and lines, but also by caring nurses and family. (Next to bed is daughter Carla, and at the back is ever watchful, Sr Wendy Matthews.)

Sr Wendy Matthews
One of the nurses assigned to one-on-one care for me was Wendy Matthews. Rapport between us was excellent, not only did Wendy instill confidence in me, but we also often shared a good laugh and silly little joke.

The ICU staff recognise the importance of allowing loving family members to spend time with patients.
