Iona Sacks (SI Lion's Head, South Africa) writes:
"In London I had a wonderful opportunity of meeting Kate Moore, Maggie
Bayliss and her husband Mick, Ruth and Tim Longville and their delightful
daughter Emily; Gloria Proops who manages No 63 Bayswater and who organised
the scrumptious tea, as well as our longstanding friends Betty Mckerrow and
Olga Lodge of SI Preston also one of our Friendship Links.
Once again when we say "in friendship" that is what Soroptimism is all about.

"Kate, Maggie, Ruth, Betty and Olga went out of their way to get to London so that we could meet. What more can I say ? Well sure enough I can say more ---- Ruth Longville has collected over a Thousand Pounds Sterling from the sale of the beaded AIDS Badges ----- that will keep "our" AIDS Orphans for a year.
"Betty Meckerrow and Olga Lodge sent a parcel of beautiful clothes for the girls. Bettie and Olga are members of SI Preston, a Friendship Link of SI Lion's Head
Shown on the photo: Iona between Bettie Meckerrow and Olga Lodge.
"Back at home when I opened my 300 and something emails and read that Kathy McElvany of
Golden West Region USA has raised US$525
at the Circle of Friends Brunch.
That is another 2 years of funding for the children pus a trip home to Grandmother at Christmas. Kathy has ordered another 60 AIDS Badges. It is such a relief to know that our "family" is being so well cared for by
Soroptimist International, we can truly be proud.

"In Toronto I met Joan Moyer of SI Cambridge, who also went out of her way to
to come from Cambridge Ontario, to meet me in Toronto."
Iona and Joan in Toronto
"Joan brought blanket squares from Margaret Wootton(SI Courtenay) as well as from her club.
"A parcel of squares was posted to No 63 Bayswater which I collected ----- over 20 Kilograms of knitted squares were brought back to South Africa. The children in the Vufthamo Home will certanly be snug this coming Winter."
