  NORTH WEST REGION - DISTRICT2 CLUBS CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Kathy Verger Muscus(SI Coos Bay Area)  sent photos taken when the clubs of District-2 gathered to celebrate their 50th anniversary on October 25, 2003 at a “Sparkle and Shine” banquet at the Greenwood Inn in Beaverton, Oregon.


Kathy writes:  "Almost 200 members and guests enjoyed a memorable night of great food, a fabulous keynote speaker, and an unforgettable talent show.

Above is a photograph of their Region Board doing a skit at the D2 meeting in October.   Dede Olson   (Gov ) is in the striped pants; next to her is Linette Zimmerman (Gov Elect) in the hat; next is the Region Secretary, Jan Martin; and last is Shaneed Burgett, Region Treasurer.

"A few weeks ago, I had put out a request to the clubs for each club to bring a bucket, basket, some cleaning container full of cleaning supplies for the S.A.V.E. (Soroptimists Against Violent Environments) to distribute to the appropriate venues in the greater Portland area. What a response!! There were approximately 25 baskets full of wonderful supplies that the Coalition was thrilled to receive.

This photo is of members of the S.A.V.E coalition the day that they distributed the baskets to the shelters in the Portland area.   Two Chatliners are in this group, Stella Funk Butler (standing at the back) and Marsha Schauer in front.





Kathy writes:   "We have 115 clubs in our Region.   District-2 of the Northwestern Region, SIA encompasses Oregon and Southwest Washington.    We have 35 clubs in Distric-2. I am not sure of the exact membership number, but each club probably averages in the 30's or more as we have a couple that are HUGE, with over 100 members."

Kathy Verger Muscus is District-2 Meeting Chair for 2002-2003 and NWR Coordinator for Programs of Service. She has been nominared for District 2 Director.
