People meet at the Sovereign's gate and have a tour of the House of Lords and each year they say they learn a little more. A beautiful lunch is served in Chalmondy room which leads on to the terrace which is on the River Thames. From there you can see the 'London Eye' and all the sites on the Thames.

The weather was lovely and everyone was on the Terrace when Camilla arrived. I was very privileged to meet her as I am a member of the committee. After all the bad press she has had I was delighted at how lovely she was, small petite and pretty not like she is portrayed in the press, she was a normal woman and mother with normal likes and dislikes. At first she was nervous but soon relaxed and laughed and chatted throughout the lunch. Before lunch she made a speech as President of the National Osteoporosis Society. That is how we got her they use '63' to have there national monthly meetings and Gloria being very pro=active asked them if she would come and she did. We had press coverage in the Times 2 days on the trot. The lunch is hosted by Gloria's sister Baroness Doreen Miller of Hendon who is a Soroptimist, in the early 1990's she was the Programme Action Advisor for Human Rights and Status of Women and she, like all of us, loves '63' and will do anything to give it the credence it deserves.
There is a lovely gift shop at the House of Lords and no one leaves without spending a little, all Soroptimists like shops and retail therapy.

After lunch tea is served back at '63' complemented by Florentine biscuits made by Gloria (speciality of the house). A wonderful day was had by all and the face of Soroptimism was certainly raised by our high profile guests.
Shown on the photo left are three Soroptimists from SI Larvik, Norway. Chatliner, Margaret Støle Karlsen. is in the middle.
