Barbara Milburn (SI of Upper Hutt, New Zealand) sent the following news item and photograph: "New Zealanders mourn the death of their most famous novelist, Janet Frame. Twice nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature, and popularized by the film of her early life - An Angel at My Table - Janet overcame a troubled teen-age period where at one stage she was declared mentally unstable, given an incredible 200 electric shocks and was heading for a lobotomy. Two people saved her; a doctor who discovered she had just won an award for her poetry, and Dr.John Money, Emeritus Professor of Medical Psychology and Pediatrics at John Hopkins, now living in Baltimore. Last November when Dr.Money visited Gore, New Zealnd for the opening of the John Money Art Gallery, Janet Frame made the trip from Dunedin to be there for the celebrations.
