  SOROPTIMIST: GOODWILL and FRIENDSHIP
Sally Smittle's Surprise

September 8, 2004:

Helen Bailey, SI Columbus, Ohio, Midwestern Region, SI/A writes:

"Hello Chatliners! I did not post a public thank you until now, because we wanted to keep a "secret" so our presentation to Sally Smittle would be a surprise! And it WAS!!!

"Sally with Pins Galore!"

"You may remember that a few weeks ago, Kate helped me post a message on the chat line about Sally Smittle's home being burglarized, and posted a plea for a donation of "extra" pins. Well, as you may have guessed, you all came through for her! I received more than 100 pins! Included in one of the packets was a Soroptimist "shawl", so I pinned most of the pins on the shawl. I also had a few of the pins made into "collage" pins. This is a technique in which an artist combines several pins into one beautiful display to make an original design and a one-of-a-kind pin (shown on the photo below).

Sally's Pins

"Last night at our regular club meeting, we presented Sally with the pins. This also happened to be her 30-year anniversary of being a Soroptimist! Our club president presented her with yellow roses."
